Tuesday March 16, Ulli Beier Building, UPNG, Port Moresby
Prof Philip Hayward (Southern Cross University) and Dr Denis Crowdy (Macquarie University) will be convening a seminar in Port Moresby on March 16th dealing with Melanesian Music Industries. As part of a research grant funded by the Australian Research Council (Discovery Grant Project DP0666232, Melanesian Popular Music, Local Recording Industries and Copyright), they have examined various aspects of the music industries in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji. The seminar will include discussions covering comparison of the industries in different countries, issues surrounding copyright, distribution, and recommendations that might be useful in thinking about how to develop relevant and productive scenes in the future.
The seminar will include presentations with ample space for discussion. Please contact Denis Crowdy via email (Denis.Crowdy@mq.edu.au) or phone (+61 2 9850 2193) for more details.
